It was a star-studded event at the 82nd Academy Awards held on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood California. The Hurt Locker stole the scene with 6 Oscars, including Best Picture. Guess James Cameron’s Avatar sunk like the Titanic this year, but Avatar did not completely disappoint. Avatar won Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Cinematography, and Best Achievement in Visual Effects. Mo’Nique was the predicted winner for Best Supporting Actress in the film Precious, and she walked away with a “golden man”. Christoph Waltz’s portrayl as a Nazi colonel in Inglorious Basterds earned him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Crazy Heart’s Jeff Bridges’ Oscar-worthy performance as a washed-up and worn out Country singer, Bad Blake, earned him the Best Actor Oscar this year, “yeah man”. Best speech and Best Actress Oscar went to Sandra Bullock for her portrayal as a fearless mother in The Blind Side. The night was a success, and besides the usual plug for Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin’s film, It’s Complicated, the Academy Awards delivered seamless entertainment.
